J and I just flew from Milan to Athens on Aegean Airlines and we had a pleasant surprise. In flight meal in economy baby! We were quite thrown off as it is just a 2 1/2 hour flight. The pasta wasn’t half bad either!

It seems so rare to hear about good service on an airline these days.

International is still decent on most airlines. It is domestic that people really complain about. And considering how close many countries are in Europe, international can be just a few hours or less. Although there are more and more “discount” airlines like WOW and others that are doing away with the nice things for deeper discounts.

I just flew back and forth across the US and I couldn’t even buy a meal one way because they ran out.

I’m flying to Athens myself in a few months. I forget which airline I picked but remember that the food options played a big factor in my decision.

(big shout out to Air France btw)

Was there nutmeg in the sauce?

I guess I’m mostly thinking within North America.

Last time I flew internationally it was KLM. It was decent. Air Tahiti Nui and EVA Air were also decent.

I’ve only ever flown internationally on Air Berlin, Norwegian, and Meridiana. Air Berlin was definitely the nicest, they gave me a sleeping mask, toothbrush, and two meals on the flight from NY to Germany. And another meal on the flight from Germany to Austria. Both pretty decent. Was definitely pretty pricey, somewhere around $800 round trip.

Norwegian was from NY to Norway and I didnt get a meal nor get to bring a checked bag. So it was somewhat stingey but the seats were comfortable and I was fine with just a carryon for 10 days. Norwegian again from Norway to Rome and same no-frills amenities. $250 total to Rome.

Meridiana was somehow only $250 one way home from Naples to NY and still included baggage, two meals, and choosing our seats. Similar to the Air Berlin flight without the extra goodies and much less cost.

This summer I am flying to Spain from LAX for $170 on this new airline named “Level”. Again only a carryon and I cant choose my seat and I dont get food. So I will pack my own. Probably flying home on Norwegian for ~$500 so we shall see how that goes.

No. But that was fine with me. It was just a simple meat sauce but it was excellent!

AA usually gives pretzels in the afternoon and biscoff cookies in the am. I fly AA a lot. You can even ask for 2 if you are really hungry.
